This website was created and is managed by Delta Edições Lda., a publishing company based in Macao (S.A.R.) on the south China coast.
At the heart of this website is data gathered from Tong Shu’s long-established Chinese almanac. These modern almanacs were originally written in Chinese and adhered to the understanding of both the astrological Chinese calendar, as well as the Ba Zi system that studies a person’s life-path based on their birth date.
Conventional Chinese philosophy dedicates special attention to the impact of time and space with any given person. This influence of space on an individual and their surrounding environment is already well documented in the Western world, due to the relatively recent popularity of the Chinese geomancy phenomenon, Feng Shui.
Concerning time’s effect on one’s life, there is a long tradition of study that scrutinizes the most relevant moments to each activity. Tong Shu’s almanac, one of the world’s oldest periodical publications, condenses a thousand years of experience in this field of knowledge to give a prescribed recommendation of suitable endeavours for each day.
All the texts published on chinesealmanac.blogspot.com were conceived and are produced by Luís Ortet, a Portuguese national who has been residing in Macao for the last 25 years and is the author of several books and essays on Chinese traditions.
